It's hot ! Why don't we prepare a Lime Granita?

It s hot ! Why don t we prepare a Lime Granita?

When it's hot I like to eat sorbets to cool me down. However, I find a few flaws in them, they are a little too sweet and sometimes expensive if you take into account the ingredients used. So I developed a less sweet and much more economical recipe for lime granita.

Here it is with lime but one could very well imagine variants with other fruit juices. The only point to take into account, fruit juices are more suitable than nectars. Often made from fruit puree, the nectars will tend to separate while freezing.

Light Lime Granita

Ingredients &Equipment

500ml of water, 20 cl of lime juice (pulco type, often cheaper than the whole lime) 2 level tablespoons of powdered sugar. A tupperware container, a fork, a salad bowl, a freezer.

The Recipe

In a bowl, mix the lime juice with the sugar to melt the latter well. Then we add the water. We mix again and pour it into our tank. No need to put a lid on it, just lay it flat in our freezer compartment.

You have to let the mixture take 1/2 hour, then using the fork scrape everything to make glitter. Leave to stand twice for 1/2 hour, scraping each time with the fork to prevent it from forming a huge ice cube.

It can be served as is in large glasses or with a few chopped mint leaves (which goes well with it). If we have guests we can choose to glaze the rim of our glasses with sugar to get a more festive side.

There's nothing like cooling off after a hot sunny day.
