Whether it's choosing them, maturing them, knowing how to cook them or storing them, avocados will have no more secrets for you.
And since these fruits are good for your health, it would be a shame to deprive yourself of them!

When it's avocado season, cut them in half, remove the core and sprinkle them with lemon juice. Place the cut part on parchment paper and put them in the freezer. Once frozen, you can store them in a plastic bag or box and thaw them whenever you want.
Blend the avocados with lemon juice in a food processor. Then freeze the mixture in ice cube trays. So you'll always have a small amount of avocados on hand for your morning smoothie.
Want to make guacamole, but your avocado is rock hard? Fortunately, there is a solution:wrap the whole avocado in aluminum foil and put it in the oven at 90°C for 10 minutes. The avocado won't be perfectly ripe, but at least it will be much softer and more edible than before.
Bananas and apples are full of ethylene gas, which naturally speeds up the ripening process of other fruits and vegetables like avocado. Awesome, right?
Onions give off sulfur gas which prevents the avocado from browning when cut. Don't worry:the avocado won't taste like the onion at all. Check out the trick here.
Spread a thin layer of olive oil on the flesh of the halved avocados. This creates a protective layer that reduces oxidation and therefore browning of the avocado.
When choosing your avocado, remove the stalk and look underneath. If it's bright green, the fruit is perfectly ripe and ready to eat. If it's brown, your avocado is probably overripe and already blackened on the inside. Check out the trick here.
Do you like pastries, but would like to avoid eating butter every time? Replace butter or oil with avocado. Yep, amazing as it sounds, you can make a great chocolate cake without full fat dairy.
Here is the recipe:
- 300 g dark chocolate (chopped or in chips)
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 2 or 4 pitted and peeled half avocados
- 100 ml of honey
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 3 eggs at room temperature
- 60g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 50 g of coconut flour or cornstarch
Preheat your oven to 200°C. Melt the chocolate and coconut oil in a bain-marie and add the mashed avocado. Stir gently. Add the honey and vanilla extract, then the eggs one by one, mixing well before adding the next. Finally, add the flour and cocoa powder, stirring gently. Pour the batter into a mold, spreading it well all the way to the corners so that it is the same height everywhere. Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes until the top is firm. Leave to cool well before unmolding. For your 1st try, if you're not sure you like the taste, make half and half butter-avocado.
If you are tired of always eating your pasta Bolognese, here is a recipe that will delight you:
- 340 g of spaghetti
- 2 avocados, halved, pitted and peeled
- 1 crushed garlic clove
- 1 coarsely chopped shallot
- the juice of 1 lemon
- 60 ml of extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- chopped parsley, garnish
Put salted water to boil and add the spaghetti for al dente cooking, 6 to 8 min. While the pasta is cooking, put the 2 avocados in a blender to blend them, then the garlic, shallots, lemon juice and olive oil. Blend until everything is smooth. When the pasta is ready, set aside ½ cup of the cooking water before draining the pasta. Add the cooking water to the avocado mixture and stir well. Add the sauce to the pasta and mix. Season with salt and pepper. Yum!

Not only are avocados good to eat, but they make you even more beautiful! This mask is ideal for nourishing and making hair shine. You need 1 very ripe peeled avocado, 1 tablespoon of warm coconut oil and 1 egg. Put the 3 ingredients in a blender to obtain a smooth mixture. Wash your hair and apply this mask all the way to the ends. Leave the mask on for at least 1 hour, wrapping your head in a towel to keep in the heat. Finally, rinse your hair, removing any pieces of avocado that may remain.
How about presenting your entrees in an edible container? To do this, all you have to do is cut an avocado in half, extract a bit of the fruit and crack an egg inside each half. Bake at 180°C for about 20 minutes. There you have it, a beautiful entrance without any mess!
