It's your turn to organize the annual family or friends dinner. Prevent stress with our practical tips.
Step 1:Send invitations
Make sure to send out the invites on time so everyone can keep the time and date of your dinner free. If applicable, clearly indicate whether or not supporters are welcome.
Step 2:Start the preparations
Once you know who's coming, you can start with the initial preparations, such as choosing the recipes. Will there be people with allergies or special food requirements? Keep that in mind. Don't make it too difficult for yourself. You really don't have to put culinary delights on the table to have a pleasant evening. Make a complete shopping list as soon as the menu is known. You can also ask everyone to bring one of the courses, make this known in time so that everyone has time to prepare or arrange something.
Step 3:Try out recipes
Want to put something on the table that you've never made before? Make the dish for yourself well before dinner. This way you can already practice and taste it, to increase the chance of success during the dinner.
Step 4:Provide beautiful decoration With beautiful dishes, napkins, candles, background music and a table runner you can give the room a bit of atmosphere. The decoration doesn't have to be complicated, a few small details make a big difference.
Step 5:Preparing for the day itself
Make sure the shopping is done. Prepare everything you can make in advance in the morning so that you spend as little time in the kitchen as possible during dinner. Make sure there is enough to drink. If necessary, set up a side table with some drinks, so that people can top up themselves. All the less time you lose when your guests are there.
Step 5:Enjoy!
Perhaps the oven is ready a little later than planned, or you discover afterwards that you forgot to put a side dish on the table. Don't worry about these little things. The fun is the most important and you should enjoy that yourself.
