Ah, we all know the struggle of the (over)ripe avocado. You never know exactly how long you can keep your avocados before they start to brown, but there is always the question of whether they are already ripe when you cut them open. Wouldn't it be much easier to freeze them so you can use them whenever you want? Good news:you can!

We thought for a long time that it was not an option, but you can freeze an avocado. The trick? You have to know exactly how to do it. To be fair:when you defrost them, they may not be the best for your toasted sandwich or in your salad, but they are great for a delicious smoothie! Avocados provide a delicious creamy texture for your smoothie and of course add a lot of healthy fats to it, which keeps you full for longer.
Now of course the big question:how exactly do you freeze those avocados? You cut it in half and remove the pit. Then also remove the peel and smear both halves with lemon or lime juice. Then wrap the halves separately in cellophane, as tightly as possible with no air in between (the plastic should also plug the hole where the wick used to be). Place both halves in a freezer bag, again making sure no extra air gets in. Now you can store the avocado in the freezer. Best of all, they'll stay good for four to five months! Tip:you can also use this method for mashed avocado, it's that easy.
