A cup of coffee, that's what we used to call it in construction. Didn't you know that I used to work in construction 😉 . Not only in the office, but also with my feet in the mud. In the construction site that is. And it wasn't about coffee, but about a cup of coffee. Back then I drank 'everything' when it came to coffee, but that's different now. I admit… I am spoiled.
I recently wrote a blog about guilty pleasures and my coffee hobby. I love coffee. But I really only like really good coffee. I don't drink much coffee outside. Or it has to be in a good restaurant, then I dare. But otherwise I'll switch to tea.

I really hate a bad cup of coffee. So much so that I can (almost) pass over my neck. Do you recognize any of that or am I just a huge poser? I also have the same with a cup of tea whose water has not boiled. Such a cup of tea then has a foam layer on it…. eeeww.
Back to the coffee. In the time that I drank a lot of coffee in construction, I was not so picky as I mentioned above. I drank my cup of black beer and poured one after the other down my throat. When I moved to another job at the office, this changed. I started drinking less coffee and got used to the coffee served at the office. Not the very best coffee, but certainly a good cup of coffee.
I remember that at one point I had an appointment with a customer where I didn't think the coffee was drinkable. I used to work the coffee so backwards, now the idea alone gave me the creeps. And a tendency to gag. That was the first time I threw my coffee at a plant. Obviously out of sight of the customer, that is 😉 .
That was my 'first time', but several more times followed after that. From a plant to the trash can or just a sink that was nearby. Secretly. Do you drink bad coffee? no way. But to say that I didn't like it… I didn't dare.
One of my first purchases as a freelancer was my own fantastic coffee machine. A fresh bean machine for the best cup of coffee. You have to tickle yourself every now and then, don't you? It costs a few kinks, but then you also have coffee that you say to you. Now - eight years later - we have started work on our second machine. One that makes it even easier to conjure up a cappuccino. I don't drink regular coffee anymore. Only cappuccino.
But what a pleasure good coffee is. I can now really look forward to starting the day at 08.45 -with a nice coffee- behind my PC. Or to drink a first cappuccino with my love on Sunday. Blessed.
And what's funny… since I can make the best coffee myself, I also realize that it's okay if you don't like the coffee somewhere else. Or it's because I'm a few years older again and just dare to be honest. I will no longer throw my cup of coffee at a plant. If I don't think the coffee is drinkable, I simply indicate that it is not quite to my taste. And I'll leave it there.
Do you just order coffee everywhere and do you actually like everything, or have you already ruined the necessary plants by letting your cup of coffee run away between the earth?
Look at that cappuccino above, I feel like it when I see it. Are you also a real coffee drinker and a gourmet? Or do you not care which coffee knocks you back? In the first case, I am certainly curious how you make your own coffee at home. Do you happen to have a bean machine or would you like one but do you think it is too expensive to buy? In that case, there is good news these days, because you can privately lease such a coffee machine from Coffee@Home did you know that? In a kind of subscription form you will receive a beautiful coffee machine, including beans that are sent to you monthly. I think it's a nice concept. You don't have to worry about it anymore (not even in terms of service and maintenance) and yet the best coffee you can imagine.
