In fact, the term "milk" is a mistake:it is drinks or juices, made from cereals, oilseeds or legumes. Nutritionally, it's different. They are rich in fiber and vitamins, cholesterol and lactose free and offer an interesting alternative for people who cannot or do not wish to consume cow's milk. They can be consumed alone, as a drink, hot or cold, or incorporated into culinary preparations (dishes, sauces, cakes, etc.).
It is the best known of all, and the closest to cow's milk:it provides so much protein, as well as essential amino acids. Be careful though, it is generally not well digested. Its taste differs according to the brands, but alone, it is not always very good (in this case, we prefer it flavored with vanilla or chocolate). It can be used in both savory and sweet preparations. Good to know:soy inhibits thyroid hormones, so avoid consuming it in excessive quantities (especially if you combine soy milk + tofu), or even completely exclude it in case of hypothyroidism.
Very greedy, almond milk is rich in fiber, iron, potassium, vitamin E and magnesium. It is often fortified with calcium. It is a drink that can be consumed during growth. It is very digestible and delicious on its own or mixed, thanks to its sweet taste and thicker texture than classic milk. It goes very well with coffee and cereals.
Magnesium, iron, manganese, potassium, fibre, vitamins B, E and A… oat milk is particularly rich. It is also quite low in sugars, fat and low in calories. It goes perfectly with oatmeal for breakfast, but can also be used in coffee if you find the taste of almond milk too strong. Thanks to its complex carbohydrates, it helps the proper functioning of the brain. Good to know:like oats, it contains gluten.
Even smoother than almond milk and with a delicious sweet taste, hazelnut milk is excellent in porridge or even plain. On the health side, it is rich in iron, calcium and magnesium but also in unsaturated fatty acids, which helps prevent cardiovascular diseases.
Not very sweet, rice milk is quite similar to cow's milk, more digestible and lactose-free. It contains little protein, but as it is rich in carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, it is recommended for athletes. Source of silica, constituting bones and cartilage, it helps to fix calcium and magnesium. However, like most plant milks, it does not naturally contain calcium, so we choose it "enriched with calcium".
