The spread is one of his little guilty but admitted pleasures that we consume regularly. In France, 2.7 kilos of Nutella are swallowed every second , or about 1 million jars per day. A consumption that far exceeds that of our Italian neighbours, the creators of this delicacy. It's simple, its taste of chocolate-hazelnuts and its creamy texture that melts in the mouth do not resist us. Manufacturers have understood this, because today there are hundreds of spreads on the market. Not easy to know which is the best, especially in terms of value for money. To enlighten us, the magazine 60 million consumers analyzed, in its last February issue, 14 spreads of reference (private brands, organic brands etc).
Poulain, Choco Nussa, Super U… Everything has been scrutinized:the fats used, the taste as well as the sugar and fat levels. Results ? In several products, palm oil is gradually giving way to others (sunflower, rapeseed, coconut), mixed with cocoa butter. On the nutrition side, alas it's a cold shower, because despite the efforts the energy values remain far too high. On average, 530 kilocalories are reached per 100 grams of product. The specialists are unanimous, there is a big imbalance between the high quantity of sugar and the fat contained in a spread. A reality that does not prevent gourmets from spreading it!
