Christmas and its good smells of orange and cinnamon...
To enjoy it this year, I give you here my Christmas potpourri recipe.
Because nothing is more pleasant than a house that smells good Christmas!
It's super easy to make and totally natural.
My English cousin shared her wet and dry potpourri recipe with me.
And I can tell you that since I tested it, I swear by it.
Here is how to make your potpourri with only 4 ingredients and perfume the whole house. Watch:
Contents
- 1 orange
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 tablespoons of fresh cranberries
- 1 teaspoon of clove
- 1 liter of water
- 1 pan
Preparation: 2 mins - Cooking: 5 min - For 1 potpourri
1. Put all the ingredients in the pan.
2. Add water.
3. Once on the stove, bring the water to a boil.
4. Then lower the heat to simmer as long as you want.
5. Add water if needed to prevent it from drying out.
And There you go ! Thanks to this moist potpourri, your home is now naturally scented :-)
Easy, quick and this air freshener smells great, doesn't it?
No synthetic product in sight!
Move the still hot pan to your home to scent another room.
This Christmas-scented perfume is so easy to make that you can even do it with your children.
Guess what I prefer? It costs next to nothing.
And then, you can easily replace the ingredients if you don't have them all.
For example, you can put citrus peel, apple slices, pine cones, star anise, rosemary or a few coffee beans...
This recipe is called a wet potpourri, but you can also make a dry one
Personally, I also love the dry version of potpourri that I sometimes put in my car as well.
And the ingredients are the same:
Lemon, bergamot, orange, star anise, flowers, aromatic herbs, cloves, apples, pine bark...
The only difference is that you have to dry the fruit in the oven for 2 hours at 90°C.
Don't forget to flip them halfway through cooking.
Once they have cooled, place the fruit and other ingredients in a bowl and arrange in the room of your choice.
Light scents diffuse throughout the room. And it lasts several weeks.
When the smell fades, you can put 2 drops of essential oils of orange or cinnamon for example.
Why not offer a natural and homemade gift for Christmas? It's a nice touch that always makes you happy.
To do this, put the ingredients in a pretty glass jar and decorate it with ribbons.
Add a label with instructions.
Whether dry or wet, the ingredients for potpourri are the same.
But you can note on the jar how to use them:to simmer or to put in a cup.
