An economical food par excellence, rice can quickly become terribly boring.
Only with a little imagination and a few additional ingredients, you can transform simple white rice into delicious dishes for the delight of young and old.
You should know that in addition to boiling, there are several methods of preparation. Here is one, pilaf cooking, an original and tasty way to prepare rice.
Ingredients &accessories. 1 measure of rice, 1.5 measures of water, olive oil, onion, stock cube, 1 bouquet garni. Saucepan.
Preparation. Mince the onion. Heat 1 drizzle of olive oil in the pan to gently sweat the onion pieces. Add the measure of rice and stir constantly to prevent it from burning. When the grains of rice become translucent and slightly pearly, add the water then the stock cube and the bouquet garni. Lower the heat to a minimum and cook until the water is completely absorbed.
If you have respected the proportions of water and rice, the latter should be cooked to perfection. This cooking is suitable for long-grain Thai or Basmati rice.
You have well-cooked rice, here is a very simple idea to transform it into a unique, delicious and balanced dish. Here is the classic recipe, but you can adapt it according to your tastes and leftovers in the fridge.
Ingredients. For 4 people. Rice cooked the night before. 4 eggs, 1 small tray of bacon bits. 1 onion, 1 small can of peas, peanut oil and sesame oil (if you have)
Preparation. Prepare all the ingredients to have them on hand. Pre-cook the bacon bits and beat the eggs into an omelet with a drizzle of sesame oil. In a very hot frying pan (or a wok) heat the peanut oil (it must be very hot at the limit of smoking). Sauté the rice over high heat for a few minutes. It should neither stick nor burn. Then, add all the ingredients, onion, peas, bacon bits and continue cooking for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
At the last moment add the beaten eggs to the preparation in a fillet and cook until the omelet sets.
Serve very hot.
Finally, here is the recipe for Rice pudding for a little sweet family pleasure (for 4 people)
Ingredients. 100 g of round rice, 1 l of milk, 2 sachets of vanilla sugar, 15 g of sugar.
Preparation. In the saucepan, boil the milk, sugar, vanilla sugar. When the preparation is bubbling, add the rice, then reduce the heat to maximum so that the rice cooks very slowly. Stir regularly to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Your rice pudding is ready when the level of milk is flush. Turn off the heat and let cool. The rest of the liquid will be absorbed by the rice as it cools.
You can serve your delicious rice pudding warm or cold, accompanied by caramel (salted butter, yum!) or red fruit coulis for example.
