Did you know? Mushrooms do not wash. Mushrooms are like sponges, they fill up with water.
That's why they should never be put under the tap or left to soak:they should be dry cleaned.
Fortunately, my grandmother gave me her 3 simple tricks to easily clean mushrooms and get rid of dirt.
Don't worry, it's easy. Watch:
1. We cut the stems of the mushrooms and we clean with a damp cloth to get rid of traces of soil and any insects.
2. You can gently rub them with a small brush, it's even more effective. You can use a nail brush or a toothbrush (new of course) to do this cleanly.
3. You can scrape them with a knife . It's quick, easy and the result is impeccable.
There you go, your mushrooms are now all clean :-)
Thanks to these grandmother's tricks, you know how to clean mushrooms without damaging them.
By cleaning mushrooms dry, you will be able to cut them without any problem and don't feel like you're eating a sponge when you cook them in a salad.
If you sauté them in a pan, they will cook faster since they will not disgorge and will thus keep all their original flavor.
