You must have these dried herbs at home

Tastes differ, but with these herbs in your kitchen cupboard you have a nice base.

Pepper and salt
No explanation needed.

Nutmeg
Nutmeg is well known in Dutch kitchen cupboards. Did you know that nutmeg can cause hallucinations in large quantities?

Cinnamon
Delicious with yogurt, in the chocolate milk and a hot meal you can give a delicious sweet twist by using a pinch of cinnamon.

Oregano
Dried oregano generally has more flavor than fresh oregano, so a jar of these dried herbs should not be missing from your spice rack.

Paprika powder
Choose your favorite variant of paprika powder:sweet or spicy. Did you know that paprika powder can become bitter when you fry it in hot oil?

Thyme
Like many herbs, thyme was once used for medicinal purposes, it is said to be especially good for the lungs.

Rosemary
Delicious on potatoes.

Turmeric
An indispensable ingredient in curry. Turmeric has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Cayenne pepper or chili powder
Cayenne pepper simply adds flavor to your dish and gives your metabolism a small boost.

Ginger powder
A tip if you prefer to use fresh ginger:freeze a piece of ginger. If you need ginger, you can grate a little off.

Garlic powder
Handy in many meals when you don't have fresh garlic at home.

Cumin
The nut-peppery flavor of cumin works well in Mexican or Indian dishes and pairs well with lamb.

Cardamom
Cardamom is an important ingredient in various spice mixes:Ras El Hanout, Garam Masala and curry powders often contain cardamom.

Basil
Fresh basil may be tastier, but the dried variety is secretly one of our favorites.
