Food in abundance, drinks are served enthusiastically and you are surrounded by (some of) your closest loved ones. Who doesn't love Christmas? Still, preparing a Christmas dinner is very stressful for many people. And then it doesn't really matter whether it's for 4 or 8 people:you want to make it a success anyway. That is why we share the recipe with which you can prepare an unforgettable Christmas dinner:stuffed chicken with apple, sage and walnuts.
How do you prepare this delicious Christmas dinner?
Ingredients
- 2 slices of white casino bread
- 200 g New Standard Chicken minced meat
- 1 red off
- 2 sprigs of sage (from the Italian spice mix)
- 25 g butter
- 1 small apple, eg Elstar
- 50 g walnuts
- 1 whole free-range chicken (about 1.4 kg each)
- Additionally required:immersion blender with meat grinder, roasting pan (20 x 30 cm)
Preparation method
The chicken dish has a fairly long preparation time of 95 minutes, but fear not:the largest part (75 minutes) is waiting time, which you can spend on other preparations.
- The first step is to preheat the oven to 180°C. In the meantime, finely grind the bread with the chopper of the immersion blender. Then put the breadcrumbs with the minced chicken in a large bowl.
- Then finely chop the onion. Finely chop the sage leaves. Heat the butter in a frying pan and fry the onion with the sage for a minute. Then peel the apple, remove the core of course and cut the flesh into equal small cubes. Bake these apple cubes for 2 to 3 minutes. The last step is chopping the walnuts, you can do this fairly coarsely and then fold them through the apple mixture.
- Mix the apple mixture and walnuts with the minced chicken and breadcrumbs in the bowl. Remove the elastic from the chicken but do not throw it away. Stuff the chicken firmly with the meat mixture. Fold the legs back and tie them with the elastic.
- Roast the chicken in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Let the chicken rest from the oven for 5 minutes and place on a platter. Collect a tip and use the rest of the herbs in pasta sauce or let it steep in homemade stock.
Enjoy your meal!
