The country of origin of the waffle is Belgium. Soft and thick, this gourmet waffle comes in two versions:the Brussels waffle, which is covered in whipped cream, hot chocolate, ice cream or fruit (or all of these at the same time) and the Liège waffle, generally served plain. The latter can be flavored with a little cinnamon, vanilla... Delicious for example with hot chocolate, for afternoon tea or for breakfast!
A little less well known, the Lille waffle is undoubtedly one of the best waffles in France. Let's not hesitate to say, even, that it is the best waffle in France, in particular that of the Meert house, a hyper-renowned bakery-pastry shop in the north of France which still makes it in an artisanal way. This waffle differs from the Belgian waffle, because it is very flat, elongated, and it is filled with a melting preparation composed of sugar, vanilla butter. Good news for lovers of this waffle:it is no longer only eaten in Lille, a shop has just opened in Paris, in the 3rd arrondissement.
You do not have the opportunity to go to Brussels, Lille or Paris? The solution to enjoying delicious waffles is to make them yourself!
