And two! The Maldives will inaugurate a second underwater restaurant next November, the 5.8. Attached to the 5-star Hurawalhi Island Resort, this restaurant, 5.8m deep in Lhaviyani Atoll, can accommodate up to 16 guests. It promises an unobstructed and unforgettable view of the seabed thanks to a transparent domed room. But this concept is not revolutionary in the Maldives since there has already been a similar establishment since 2005, the Ithaa Undersea, restaurant at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island complex. However, this first one can only accommodate 14 people, which makes 5.8 the largest underwater restaurant in the world... Moreover, it is the same architects, specialists in aquarium design, who worked on the design of these two projects.
To arrive in this heavenly place, guests will have to step into a small hut on the pier, and descend by a spiral staircase. The dishes served will be signed by the famous New Zealand chef Shannon Batten, who has made a name for himself in his country by cooking for heads of state, royal families and many stars. We do not know for the moment the future prices but we suspect that for such a frame, it should not be given… And anyway, we do not forget that in the Maldives, the death penalty on children is legal !
