Sushi is one of the favorite dishes of the French, so it is not surprising that it arrived at the top of the ranking of the most ordered dishes online in 2016. Some like them mainly composed of raw fish while others favor avocado, cucumber or even cheese. But no matter the ingredients, there is a very particular way to enjoy sushi and most of us would do it rather badly. Prominent Tokyo-based chef Naomichi Yasuda has made a short video in which he lists all the sacrilege done to the Japanese label. And we start with marinated ginger (and it's true that we never really know what to do with this one!):it should not be placed on top of the sushi before tasting, but serves to “cleanse” the palate between bites. Yes, it must therefore be consumed alone!
The fish, meanwhile, should not be soaked in soy sauce and then coarsely drained (a gesture that must remain in the "men's toilets" once the commission is over, smiles the chef). It is best to pat the maki lightly in the sauce before introducing it whole in the mouth. The so-called “nigiru” sushi – that is to say which has a base made of rice – is caught with the chopsticks and must then be turned over so that it is the fish that is soaked in soy sauce. Also be careful not to ruin the taste of the fish with too much wasabi. The chef points out that seasoning is above all a means of flavoring food and that using it excessively can simply destroy the delicate flavor of the dish.
