It is the Lebanese Society which is part of the University of Manchester which is in charge of organizing this special day around the famous mashed chickpeas with sesame oil which will be held on the 1st next March. Laura Najem, who founded the Lebanese Society with the aim of "bringing Lebanese students together to make Manchester feel at home", told the local newspaper that the idea for such an event came to her after observing strong demand from students. “The hummus that young people buy at the local supermarket does not taste the same as the authentic recipe made in Lebanon. […] We want other students to get a taste of what real homemade hummus looks like and learn about variations of the original recipe ".
