We don't need many excuses to sleep a lot in the winter. It's so tempting to light the candles and curl up under a blanket and press the remote. The fact is – winter makes us feel lethargic, eat more and sleep more. But we shouldn't feel guilty about this, it's a natural part of how our bodies are programmed when the days are short and it's cold. A great way to connect with friends and family during the long winter is a “weekend brunch!” Brunch doesn't require much preparation or effort. Here are 5 reasons to enjoy brunch.
1. You can eat more. Enjoy the joys of two meals at once.
2. You can still sleep. Brunch can start whenever you feel like it. Everyone is in a relaxed, lazy day mode.
3. You can eat whatever you want. From mushrooms on bacon toast to savory pies, mezze platters, mix-and-match bagels and toppings, or sausages, bacon and eggs; or go straight for the sweets with French toast, waffles, pancakes, pastries, cinnamon rolls, scones, fruit salad or granola.
4. Brunch food is usually not too taxing on the wallet. You don't have to pack expensive items, and it also saves cooking time and energy – perfect if you just want to chill out over the weekend.
5. Cocktails and brunch go hand in hand. It is quite acceptable to drink alcohol during brunch. Be sure to offer several options, such as a Bloody Mary, as well as water, juice, coffee and tea.
