A simple small stainless steel spoon can be enough to remove any unpleasant smell from your onion on the hands. How? 'Or' What ? Read instead!
Onion is good. But admit that as a perfume, we have already known better! Rather than going through tons of soap trying to get rid of the smell it leaves on my hands once I peel it off, I discovered a surefire trick. In fact, my cook husband got it from one of his former chefs.
A Chef's Tip
Just wash your hands holding a stainless steel spoon. You take the back of the spoon in your palm and pour some soap on it. You wash your hands by rubbing the spoon at the same time. And stainless steel makes that smell disappear...
I'm not knowledgeable enough in physics or chemistry to explain to you how this is possible. But the facts are there. A bit like peeling an onion under running water so as not to cry. Hey, by the way, I already learned that trick from my husband... Finally, it can be useful for a man in the kitchen!
Do you have another trick to get rid of this kind of smell? Leave me your tips in the comments!
Rather than investing in tons of specific products, this trick will allow you to limit expenses, while having the maximum effect. If you are used to cooking a lot of onions, as is the case with me, it is easily a can of liquid soap per year that you will save.
Ok, a saving of €2 over the year, it may not be huge, but it's always taken! And above all, it's a lot of time saved!
