Cambridge Diet...where do I start?

Never in all my life have I ever really been on a diet. It wasn't really necessary either.
But now…well. And so I start with the Cambridge diet † After three children, who were all born by Caesarean section, with an average number of no less than 25 pregnancy kilos at a time… something has stuck. And no, I didn't eat it… in fact, during my pregnancies I loved fruits and Spa reds, and I never did sweets. My body just stored everything. Yet I always gained reasonable weight † Until after the birth of the youngest I fell into postpartum depression and had to go on antidepressants. One of the most common side effects? Right, arrive. Grrrr…

Cambridge diet:no bread, pasta, rice or potatoes..OMG!

Now that I (fortunately) got off the medication about 7 weeks ago, I really want myself back and get rid of those extra kilos † And yes, people say:'it is more important that you feel good about yourself, the rest will come.' No, I see myself every day in the mirror and think; I'm not that. I don't feel comfortable in this body. I feel like my body is doing a sort of reset need. My eating pattern has never changed and has never been a reason not to return to the old weight after a pregnancy. So:action!

Sports , is the first thought. But as a migraine/headache patient there is little for me. In addition, I am missing a day every day with 3 children, 1 of whom is still at home, and my work as a freelance journalist. And yes, people shout:'That's an excuse, you can make time.' Really?! Its purpose is also to provide relaxation. It gives me stress because it just can't be planned. That will probably come, but now.just.not! And I really refuse to go on those green smoothies all the time and say how healthy I am.

I'm doing this for myself, I don't have to live up to any expectations, just my own. But yes, I do want to lose those kilos… And coincidentally, my girlfriend is a fairly fanatical Cambridger. And the results with her Cambridge diet are good! So there I go…for the first time in my life.

Tips? Experiences with Cambridge? Please share!

I will soon have my intake interview to see which way of diet suits me best..the 500 or 800, for the initiated. The advice was to start with the preparation phase. I received a neat list by email of what I am NOT allowed :potatoes, pasta, rice, bread, crackers and fruit. OMG!! You can wake me up at night for fresh bread and pasta… gulp… Just let me sleep now.
But what am I allowed to do, was my question. Well, including water (preferably 2 liters, again OMG!), coffee and tea without sugar, full-fat yogurt, nuts, eggs, meat, fish and vegetables .


I just started that and oooooooohhh fresh bread with a layer of peanut butter smells good when you can't have it anymore. I had never noticed that smell before. I'm doing well, although drinking is a thing. My brain almost never gives off the 'thirst signal'. Point of attention.

The other challenge, besides losing weight in itself, is eating as varied as possible with the limitations I have. I am very curious how this will go for me. Does anyone have experience with this diet? Tips? Recipes? Please share… I'm gonna need it 😉
The pursuit? 10 kilos…
