The supermarkets offer a wide choice of wines at less than 5 euros from the Bordeaux region. 60 million consumers organized a Bordeaux tasting. A selection of wine brands between 2 and 11 euros underwent the test to find out if some of these beverages could surprise our taste buds!
A real sensory analysis
The tasting was done by a jury composed of master sommeliers, journalists, expert juror brokers, and wine professionals. Like a real sensory analysis:the samples were presented in numbered INAO glasses, to preserve their "anonymity"... The jurors tasted their series in a different order for each. The wines received a score out of twenty based on different criteria:visual, olfactory and gustatory aspect.
Wines that scored between 13 and 16.5 were qualified as "good". The mention "quality/price" was awarded to products with a score greater than or equal to 13, and whose price estimate made by the juror was twice its actual price!
Good inexpensive wines for fine palates
After the test of tasting we can say that these wines are nice surprises! Agreed, these are not great vintages but they have no major flaws. The big brands are still different from private labels. However, Auchan and Intermarché stand out from the crowd by offering products with a very good price/quality ratio!
Tasting advice:To optimize the taste qualities of this wine, prefer decanting. This will aerate it, and help dissipate any sulphites present.
