Succulents have been a real success for a few years. Recognizable by their curved shape (because they are filled with juice, as their name suggests), these plants capable of surviving in arid environments adorn desks or wooden shelves in sober and stylish interiors. In the fall of 2016, an Australian artist even decided to use these mini-plants in nail-art, and it is now in the kitchen that they are essential, in the form of cake fillings. So obviously, it is not a question of having real plants as decoration and removing them one after the other once the dessert has had its effect, but simply of reproducing them. Yes, it requires a lot of dexterity and a lot of patience...
Butter cream, sugar candy or sugar paste, pastry chefs use different "materials" to recreate these stunning versions of small smooth plants. Some stick to the original shades of green and orange, while others indulge in a few whimsies, with red, blue, and purple tones, but the results are all undeniably harmonious. The trend, which is flooding Instagram, is now inviting itself into wedding ceremonies, and in this early spring, we can't be more in the country theme. But the cupcake version also exists, and we find it even cuter! For those who would like to try it, a short tutorial exists on Pinterest , and another more detailed one (but in English, unfortunately) has been posted on the Craftsy site (maybe pictures will be enough?). And for inspiration, it's on Instagram that it happens, where all the aces of the kitchen gather their creations under the hashtag #Terrariumcake.
We are under the spell!
