The pea-mayo pizza, the cotton candy pizza… We never stop talking about this dish which, for the past few months, has been subject to all kinds of extravagance. If the two varieties mentioned above have a chance to appeal to lovers of unusual cuisine, the new trend (yes, because another has emerged) will undoubtedly leave a large majority of people perplexed. In the United Kingdom, the very powerful supermarket chain Waitrose now markets… charcoal pizza! This latest innovation is in line with other dishes made from the material sold by the brand, such as charcoal and sesame biscuits or pressed charcoal juice. Not very appetizing at first sight…
The pizza, which will be available in all stores by May, has its dough made of charcoal, therefore, and is covered with porchetta (stuffed pig), salami, marinated artichoke, tomatoes and olives. We imagine that it will taste like burnt food, which can sometimes happen in pizzerias, but we rarely have very good memories of it… The advantage, as the site Metro points out , is that the dish seems to be made for Instagram:with its dominant colors of red, purple and black, the pizza takes on a gothic look that makes it (at least) pretty to look at. It will be sold at €5.50. If charcoal has been recognized for its positive effects such as accelerating the elimination of toxins, it should however be consumed in moderation (partly because it would hinder the absorption of drugs).
It seems that we haven't finished hearing about this surprising new ingredient... Do you want to try it?
