Not a week (or even a day) goes by without a new food trend emerging. While we were talking about chocolate crumpets this weekend (yum!), here is a new food that could be part of our breakfast:polenta. Or more precisely, polenta porridge. For the record, polenta is a corn flour originating in Italy, which is served hot in the form of a pancake or porridge, generally as a main dish. Generally… because polenta can also be eaten sweet, for breakfast!
Clearly, it is a question of replacing the oat flakes (with which porridge is traditionally made) with polenta. A good point because polenta is naturally gluten-free, which makes it an interesting option for those intolerant. The preparation of porridge with polenta? It is mixed with water or milk (vegetable or cow), depending on whether you want to obtain a more or less rich texture. And then, it's like for a classic porridge, we put the sweet or savory toppings that we like:fresh fruit, chia or sesame seeds, agave syrup, almonds, hazelnuts, cheese, dried tomatoes... In short , we are the boss! And if you run out of ideas, you can always check out the #polentaporridge hashtag on Instagram.
This should add a twist to our breakfasts...
