Poke cake, kezako? Roughly translated from English, we call it the “hole cake”. Hmmm necessarily said like that, it's not super tempting... And yet, the Poke cake is far from being a kind of sweet Swiss cheese. This dessert, soft and delicious, is very simple to make. In addition, it can be declined to infinity!
The idea of the Poke cake is simple. First we make a classic sponge cake, plain or chocolate. Once it is cooked, it is pierced with holes at regular intervals with a straw.
Why ? Well, to "infuse" the cake with a topping or icing. Strawberry jam, salted butter caramel, custard… We are spoiled for choice. By slipping into the holes, it will flavor the dessert and make it super soft. Then, last step:the cake is covered with icing and then left for 6 to 12 hours in the refrigerator so that the infusion soaks in well. Now all we have to do is decorate it!
