If you are one of those for whom a glass of wine and a beautiful cheese platter are synonymous with a successful evening, this novelty is for you! There is no shortage of fantasy at the company Great British Cheese (the good English cheese, in VF) which markets many with rather very colorful rinds (black, red and even green) and with original tastes! Among them, one cheese caught our attention:the Wensleydale with raspberry and Prosecco (famous Italian sparkling wine). So, when you combine salty, sweet and fruity, what does it give?
At Christmas, everything is allowed (or almost)! If English gastronomy is not lacking in eccentricities, we still wonder about this rather surprising association of flavors. Wensleydale, an English cheese produced in the town of Hawes, is rather crumbly and hard in appearance, on the other hand it is softer and reveals its creamy side. While it is often associated with fruity flavors, especially for the end-of-year celebrations, the English company has decided to dare everything by flavoring it this time with raspberry and Prosecco. The result is rather satisfying for the eyes as well as the taste buds:a beautiful thick and red crust, which contains a heart of pink cheese that is both sweet, acidic and fruity (yum)! A mix that is ultimately not so surprising when you remember that it is not uncommon to see cheese platters accompanied by fresh fruit, such as grapes for example, or jam/chutney. On the price side, there is £4.50 (about €5) for 200 g of cheese on the Great British Cheese site.
Good app to all gourmands!
