Do you regularly buy pre-washed and pre-packaged vegetables in the supermarket to use them immediately? Stop it! Most of the information on the bag suggests that pre-washed products should be able to be eaten straight from the bag, but... a large proportion of the products are contaminated with bacteria that are not removed by any kind of washing because they live in the "nooks and crannies" away from the plant and cannot be removed by washing (only by boiling it).
When the bagged vegetables are washed in the production facility, they are usually submerged in a solution containing a little bleach, which is supposed to kill all bacteria. But research has shown that up to 90 percent of the bacteria on spinach remains in bags during this washing process, because the texture of spinach provides a perfect bacterial breeding ground. After it is rinsed with the bleach solution, the surviving bacteria can grow and infect other leaves as well; so don't buy them!
