The long-awaited Gouda Cheese Experience has opened its doors! This interactive discovery of the story behind the world-famous Gouda cheese is another reason to visit the historic city. The opening of the attraction was supposed to take place on March 23, but was postponed to June 1 due to corona.
What is the Gouda Cheese Experience?
The Gouda Cheese Experience is an exciting combination of discovery, fun and learning. Virtual mascot Ralfie trains visitors to become true Gouda cheese masters through an interactive cheese journey through the process that turns milk into delicious cheese, following a recipe that has hardly changed for 800 years. With discovery walls, a 360-degree film and virtual milking you learn everything about the history, cheese making, the cheese trade and the cow. Of course you can also taste the one and only Gouda cheeses in the accompanying restaurant.
Ralfie is also an animation figure inspired by Gouwenaar Ralph Toll, initiator of the attraction, who unfortunately passed away in 2017. The implementation of the creative concept is by the same makers as those of the Heineken Experience in Amsterdam.
