It's well known:fruits and vegetables are good for health !
In convenience stores or markets, many of these foods end up in the trash.
I found 2 ways to get food for free.
Each time, I save €80 on my food budget.
Here are my 2 tips:
I often go to the convenience store next to my work. I buy a sandwich there for lunch or my evening meal when I get out of work.
By dint of going there almost every day, I quickly sympathized with the owner of the grocery store. It must be said that while shopping, I always take the time to chat with her.
I talk to him about my work, my articles for comment-economiser.fr
and I understood that she also wanted to save money.
My grocer has become, like me, a clever and environmentally friendly consumer who wonders:"You know, every week, I put whole bags of tomatoes in the trash, because according to the law these tomatoes are expired! "
Since every Friday evening, I collect 4 kilos of tomatoes. I distribute some of the fruit to my friends and I have tomatoes for at least a week!
Every Saturday morning, a market is held downstairs from my house and here is what I do to collect free fruit and vegetables:
- I go to the market as often as possible.
- I discuss with the merchants and producers and I identify the nicest ones.
- I'll be back at 1 p.m., when the market ends.
Why ?
Radishes, apples, carrots, cauliflower, potatoes... many crates are left on the ground. So I kindly ask the producers if I can get some back.
Of course, I don't take everything. Other people more needy than me are there to recover.
There you go, thanks to these 2 tips I saved €80 on my food budget!
I'm happy to be a responsible consumer:tons of food go to waste every year.
It is important to recover seasonal fruits and vegetables in order to respect the environment and consume locally. In this article, Nicolas explains why it is better to eat local.
