BeBio:Seasonal fruits and vegetables in March

Which seasonal vegetables and which seasonal fruits can you buy in March and what are their benefits? Willemijn and Liselotte from BeBio provide an overview.

The benefits
It is important to choose seasonal vegetables and fruits. It is not only fresher, but also tastier and easier to obtain. Furthermore, they contain more nutrients because they are harvested not far from us. Fruits and vegetables are only picked when they are ready for harvest. If you stick to the season, you will immediately notice that you eat more varied. You suddenly discover other vegetables or fruit, so that you automatically adjust your eating habits.

Environmental
Also, choosing seasonal fruits and vegetables is cheaper and better for the environment. Because you have to deal with less transport costs and costs to keep it. Because it does not have to grow in a greenhouse for long, it also saves on heating costs.

For example, if we want to eat strawberries in February, we have to bring them in from a country where the sun shines in winter. This means extra costs for transport and storage en route. Therefore, it is preferable to choose vegetables from our own country and from the season!
