Ever burn yourself lifting the lid of a pot?
This sometimes happens with old pans that don't have suitable handles.
Fortunately, my grandmother showed me her very simple trick to not burn yourself when lifting the lid of a pan.
The clever trick is to use the cork from a wine bottle. Watch:
1. Take a cork bottle stopper.
Be careful, do not use a plastic cap, otherwise it will melt.
2. Slide it under the handle without touching the pan and without burning yourself of course.
3. Grasp the ends of the cap to lift the lid.
There you go, now you know how to lift the lid of a saucepan without burning yourself :-)
You have a great grip. Handy when you don't know where you put your kitchen towel or oven mitt!
