When the asparagus season starts varies, but when it ends is fixed.
The asparagus season traditionally ends on 24 June. That is not because all asparagus is no longer tasty from then on. After the asparagus east, the asparagus plant must regain its strength for a while in order to produce asparagus again the following year. Growing the plant increases the chance of a successful harvest next year.
The feast of Saint John is also on 24 June, but it is no longer entirely clear why the asparagus season ends on that day.
With this tip you can also eat asparagus after the asparagus season.
