This tea is virtually unprocessed. Only the very young shoots of the tea plant are used. You could call this tea the purest. And because there is little crushing and processing, white tea contains all kinds of natural antioxidants. White tea is usually the lightest in taste. Examples of white tea are:jasmine tea (can also be green!), ginger and orange (can also be green!) and lemon tea (can also be green!).
Black tea has a much stronger taste. Not surprising when you consider that the tea leaves are fully fermented for this. Black tea contains fewer antioxidants, but more caffeine. Examples of black tea are:English Breakfast, Earl Gray and forest fruit tea.
And then green tea. Not really that different from white tea. Contains a lot of unaffected antioxidants and also catechins, which are said to help with fat burning. In China and Japan they take the non-oxidation of the tea leaves very seriously. There they stir-fry and steam the leaves respectively to retain all the good substances. Examples of green tea are:ginger &lemongrass, green tea cranberry and green tea pure.
Fun fact:all tea comes from the same plant, called Camellia sinensis , so it depends on how the leaves are processed whether the tea becomes black, white or green.
