Do you think sustainable food is important? Watch the World Food Day online live show!

October 16 is World Food Day again. A day intended to take action worldwide and advocate for sufficient, healthy and sustainable food. Our country is participating in an online live show featuring chefs, experts and food changers.

During the online live show, the presentation will be in the hands of Helen Kranstauber and Ikenna Azuike and this is what you can expect during the broadcast:

  • Live cooking show :Chef Vanja van der Leeden has been rocking the culinary landscape for years as a cook and writer. Her cookbook 'Indorock' became the Golden Cookbook of 2019. In the World Food Day Show she cooks a delicious Indian dish live with a local twist.
  • Food movies: Hanna Verboom is a filmmaker and social entrepreneur. At the end of 2014 she founded Cinetree:a film platform for stories that last longer than they last. During the World Food Day Show, Hanna takes us to high-profile films about our food system in the Film Talks. After the show, three films can be viewed in Cinetree's Food Film Cinema:Wasted! The Story of Food Waste (in collaboration with Together Against Food Waste), L'amour des Moules and Mothers of the Land (in collaboration with Oxfam Novib).
  • Talk show :What is the global situation with sufficient, healthy and sustainable food for everyone? And what impact does the corona crisis have on food? In this action-oriented talk show, Leonie Barelds (Unicef) and Nout van der Vaart (policy advisor at Hivos) show what is happening worldwide and what you can do in the Netherlands. Eva Koffeman (youth representative for biodiversity and food for the Ministry of LNV) talks about the major role that young people (from millennials to Gen-Z) play in the transition to a more sustainable food system.
  • Food changers in action: Videos from various food changers worldwide give the show its international character. For example, there are digital contributions from Bram Wits (agricultural council at the Dutch Embassy) from Ghana. Claire van Enk (founder Farm to Feed) speaks to the audience from her current residence in Kenya. Lianne de Bie , the director of the Slow Food Youth Network Netherlands (SFYN) and Abdelhamid Idresse of the online platform Boeren voor Buren present the Netherlands.
  • Tastemakers around the world: Sufficient, healthy and sustainable food for everyone, that is the ambition! We hear from various tastemakers what this means for them, including Peruvian top chef Palmiro Ocampo.
