Eating insects is a trend that is increasingly emerging in the West. But how do we feel about this trend? Is it something you would do or do you already regularly eat a tasty insect?
The magazine app Readly researched insect eating in the West, and it shows. As many as 1 in 6 would consider eating insects. In the past year, the platform saw an increasing interest in cooking and food magazines. To further explore this trend, Readly and YouGov have explored the interest in futuristic foods such as insects and 3D-printed foods in some Western countries.
And these are the things we would consider trying to eat:
Liane de Wit, partnership manager Netherlands at Readly:“We think the result shows a surprisingly positive attitude about the possible future of food. This is of course a topic that has been talked about a lot for some time, but now 'out-of-the-ordinary' alternatives are easier than ever to find on webshops and more and more recipes are appearing in food magazines. With thousands of magazines, Readly offers plenty of inspiration to satisfy any appetite and we have noticed that this theme has grown in popularity.”
