Spring is taking its first steps and we don't know about you, but we are already daydreaming about our quiet moments on the terrace of a café with a good refreshing drink (because yes, we are sure we will have a lot of sun, or these are just our hopes…)
Berries are the stars!
As for the beers, we had the pleasure of tasting the new brew with aromas of red fruits from the Affligem cuvée Carmin, ideal for a small drink with friends during the afternoon. But red fruits seem to be THE trend, since they have also inspired the Breton ciders Kerisac which release a cider flavored with red fruits which will have all its effect for an aperitif. Raspberry is particularly highlighted. It is indeed THE star since it is found in the cider Loïc Raison which offers a cider with a raw taste, mixed with the tangy sweetness of raspberry:a successful mix, but the small red fruit also has its full effect thanks to the Hoegaarden rosé which has already proven itself and has not lost its quality over time. The Belgian brand and its white raspberry beer does not disappoint us.
Citrus invites itself to the party …
Red fruits are not the only ones that will enliven our moments of relaxation since Val de Rance (which also produces in Brittany) offers a Zéphir rosé cider with grapefruit which will hold your attention and the Edelweiss brand is betting on the encounter between zests of citrus fruits and a touch of honey for one of its three flagship beers.
Mixtures surprise
And it's not just them who have used the services of honey to produce alcohols with a particularly surprising taste:Bellot CACIBEL ciders have created an unexpected but very pleasant cider, honey and blackcurrant cocktail. Val de Rance ciders have combined white cider with peach for another beverage from their Zéphir range. Edelweiss has tried a shocking duo:forest fruits and elderflower, to taste... in moderation all the same, it is amazing. The Dutch brand (Edelweiss belongs to Heineken) also believes in its original white beer with sweet and fruity flavors from the Alps, which combines sweetness and acidity.
An unusual idea
Note that Edelweiss is creating the event by releasing a box for its three beverages (citrus zest/honey, forest fruit/elderflower and the original white beer) with a very colorful design that gives pep and a candle who smell their products. This box will be offered in a limited edition at the Drugstore Publicis in Paris from mid-April (Three beers + a candle for 24 euros).
Drum roll:Our favorites are...
It's not easy to decide between them all, but on the cider side, it was obvious despite the quality of all:the association of white cider with peach won our taste buds, we will most certainly quench our thirst with this product signed Val de Rance during all summer. For the beers, we must admit that our heart swings between "the old" Hoegaarden Rosée and the "little new" Edelweiss forest fruit and elderflower, all you have to do is taste everything to make your own ranking.
Don't worry, we didn't end up collapsing on the floor in the editorial office, but be careful, these deceitful drinks with good fruit flavors would almost make us forget that we drink alcohol!
