I don't know about you, but I love avocados!
As an aperitif, in a salad or in guacamole, it's delicious. Yum!
The only concern is to remove the skin and the core...
It's not easy and it can even be dangerous with a knife.
Fortunately, a cook friend revealed to me his technique for easily pitting and peeling an avocado without risk.
The trick is to cut it in 4 then remove the skin like a banana . Watch:
Contents
1. Put the avocado on a flat surface.
2. Hold it firmly with one hand.
3. Cut it into quarters lengthwise.
4. Detach the pieces gently.
5. Take the core in one hand and the remaining piece in the other.
6. Rotate the core for easy removal.
7. Peel off the top of the skin using your thumb.
8. Gently pull the skin from top to bottom like you would a banana.
There you go, you now know how to peel, pit and cut an avocado in 1 min flat :-)
Easy, fast and efficient, right?
What is really great with this technique is that you get beautiful intact pieces of avocado...
...without having to scrape the avocado skin with a spoon!
And above all, no risk of cutting yourself to remove the pit with a knife.
Know that it is important to lose as little flesh as possible when peeling an avocado.
Why ? Not only so as not to lose a crumb given the price of avocados...
...but also because the nutrients are mainly found just under the skin.
And since the avocado is rich in fiber, vitamin E, folic acid and heart-healthy fats, it would be a shame to deprive yourself of it!
With this technique, you are sure not to mess up this part and not to let any hang on the skin.
The riper an avocado is, the easier the skin comes off.
But how do you know if an avocado is ripe?
The trick is to watch the peduncle , which is located at the base of the avocado.
Remove the stem, and if the flesh underneath is brown, it's too ripe .
But if it's green, it's ready to eat and ready to taste ! Check out the trick here.
