Homemade pie crust is an even tastier dessert . Make your own pie dough step by step with our easy recipe to make you happy!
We offer you the recipe for shortcrust pastry. It is the one that is traditionally used for savory and sweet pies and in addition, it is really easy to make.
To make a good shortcrust pastry, you need:
--> 250g of flour
--> 150g butter
--> 1/2 teaspoon of salt
--> 3 tablespoons of water
1) Cut the butter into cubes and soften it in the microwave. Pour the flour on the work surface, add the salt, the butter and mix lightly. You should get a slightly sandy texture.
2) Do not add all the water at once. Add it little by little while kneading the dough for 6 to 7 minutes, no more.
3) Once the dough is very smooth, make a ball, wrap it with cellophane and put it in the fridge for at least 1 hour. If you can put it a little bit more, it's even better because the more the dough rests, the better it is.
When making the pie, simply roll out the dough and place it in a mold covered with a sheet of parchment paper to unmold without a hitch. Also remember to prick the dough with a fork, this will prevent the formation of blisters, which are not very aesthetic.
Here you get almost 400 grams of dough, enough to make 2 pies. You pay the same price as for a commercial pie dough (i.e. 1.73€, base price), except that there, clearly, you have a lot more.
