Need to weigh ingredients to make a recipe?
But you don't have a scale or measuring cup at home?
No problem, there is a simple trick to weighing and measuring without a scale.
All you need is a mustard glass, a coffee bowl and a tablespoon.
The trick is to use these containers with the table of equivalences below. Watch:
One level tablespoon (full to the brim) is:
- 1 cl of oil
- 15 g flour
- 15g caster sugar
- 16 g of salt
A small mustard glass corresponds to:
- 15 cl of liquid
- 130 g of flour
- 140 g of semolina
- 180g caster sugar
- 200g uncooked rice
A coffee bowl corresponds to:
- 2 mustard glasses
- 30 cl of liquid
- 300 g of flour
- 500g caster sugar
There you go, you can now weigh the ingredients without a scale :-)
To measure 100 g of rice, 200, 250 or 500 g of flour without a scale, just use this table and adjust the quantities.

And if you want, you can still get a kitchen scale or a measuring cup for your next recipe.
