Do you fancy something to snack on in the evening? Marije from Fitness Bible for Women tells you this week in her blog why you should give in to that.
Marije: A late night snack attack. What do you do with it? Well, do it! It is fine to have something to eat in the evening. Especially if you've trained or dined early.
Known issue
Also know that there is no shame if you feel like snacking in the evening. Everyone has that. Just not everyone handles it the right way.
Is snacking in the evening bad?
We have been told that eating in the evening is not a good thing to do, because it makes you fat. That's right, but chocolate can also make you fat in the afternoon.
Taking something in the evening is a very wise choice, because:
– Going to bed hungry can cause nighttime eating or disrupt your sleep!
– If you wake up starving, you almost always eat too much the next day or cause a snack attack the next day (=postponement of execution )!
– You are fighting with yourself, because it is not allowed. This makes temptation all the greater!
Make choices
So it's about what you do with it and, of course, what you snack on. Make healthy tapas snacks from cucumber, (sun-dried) tomatoes, break rice wafers into pieces (instead of toast) and dip them in hummus or guacamole. Freeze-dried vegetable chips are very tasty and a good alternative. Don't forget that you can always add a flex moment if the evening takes a spontaneous pleasant turn!
