Despite the fact that we have fewer hours of sunshine than the south of France, the Netherlands is very suitable for making certain types of wine.
On trial
A number of grape vines have already been planted as a test on a piece of land near Amsterdam Sloterdijk. In the spring of 2016, a vineyard of 1,200 square meters is to be opened, where interested parties can rent a piece.
Not the first city vineyard
There is already a city vineyard in The Hague. Claire Felicie from Amsterdam approached the initiator from The Hague and together with two other Amsterdammers she came up with No Chateau.
What does that cost?
For 225 euros per harvest year you have a piece of land. From 2018 that will yield about ten bottles of wine a year.
