Baking and cooking the perfect list of substitute ingredients. If you finally have a nice recipe, you see that you just don't have that one ingredient at home. Maybe that is less bad than you think, first read the list below and see if there is an alternative ingredient for it
Reduce ingredients in a recipe
You may sometimes wonder if you can substitute certain ingredients in a recipe. In principle, this should be possible, especially for recipes to which something extra is added, such as chocolate pieces or pieces of fruit.
However, I would not just reduce sugar or flour and the like. This can have major consequences for your baking or dish. The ingredients are perfectly matched to each other. If you reduce something, your baking could collapse, become sticky or, for example, not be cooked. So I really don't recommend reducing, unless you understand baking and cooking and know exactly what you're doing.
Of course you can also experiment with it. And if you look up a recipe online, you often see comments under it. Sometimes people already indicate that they have adjusted something and if so what this was. Saves you a lot of headache and you know for sure that the recipe will not fail. A recipe that you could experiment with is this vegetarian chocolate cake.
List of baking and cooking substitute ingredients
My recipe for a delicious banana-almond cake was the inspiration for making this list. Because what do you do if you really want to bake, but don't have any eggs at home? That's when you start looking for an alternative ingredient. You can replace a whole egg with 45ml aquafaba (chickpea liquid). Replace a protein with 30 ml of aquafaba.
And suddenly you come across a lot of substitute ingredients, so my idea for compiling a baking and cooking substitute ingredients list was born. Or make a delicious red wine cake (you can replace the wine with grape juice or apple juice, for example).
The list below also partially includes the English names for certain ingredients. That makes it even easier, because how often do you use an American recipe and don't know what it is? With this list that is no longer a problem. Keep in mind that if you replace flour, eggs or butter it won't make much difference with the original recipe.
However, if you replace more ingredients, you may be able to get a delicious baking, but it will differ from the original. I don't have any problems with this myself, in the end it's all about the taste. And whether that is with the original ingredients or with alternative ingredients, it doesn't really matter to me.
