How do you make applesauce yourself?

Make your own apple sauce with this recipe. That secretly remains the most delicious applesauce.

Ingredients

  • A kilo of apples
  • 100 ml tap water
  • Tbsp sugar
  • Tbsp lemon juice
  • Teaspoon of cinnamon (or a cinnamon stick for cooking)

Get started
Peel a kilo of apples, remove the cores and cut the apples into pieces. Place the pieces in a pan with 100 milliliters of tap water. Add a tablespoon of sugar, a tablespoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of cinnamon. Let it boil and then lower the heat. Let it simmer for 15 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. You can then puree the applesauce until it is smooth. Or do not puree (or less) for an apple compote.

Can I add more/less sugar to my applesauce?
You can add sugar to taste. Some apples are sweeter by themselves, so you need less sugar. Even if you like to eat less added sugar, you can delete or reduce the sugar. Maybe you just have a sweet tooth, then you can add a tablespoon or two extra.
