In this festive period of the end of the year, wine is the key ingredient for dinners with family or friends. If we, the French, have the reputation of being particularly fond of the beverage, the other peoples are not left out, judging by the astonishing map recently published by the site MoveHub . It shows the average amount spent by each people for their wine consumption each year. Such a result was obtained thanks to data from the Wine Institute, which analyzed wine consumption per person and the average price of a bottle. And it is clear that in this area, we have found our masters! On a European scale, it is the Swiss who dominate (they are also first on a global scale!), with more than 550 euros spent per person each year, followed by the Icelanders who spend between 350 and 450 euros per person. The third position, between 250 and 350 euros, is occupied by many equals such as France, Norway, Sweden or Austria.
Of course, the average price of a bottle per country must be taken into account. For example, 75cl of wine is worth an average of €10 in Switzerland, which affects people's big expenses (well, that makes an excuse…). As for Ukraine, Poland or even Estonia, the inhabitants spend less than 25 euros per year (Kosovars spend less than 0.70 euro!). And in the world then? Here are the top 5 spending countries in the world:Switzerland, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Aruba (a Caribbean island) and Norfolk Island, Australia. Among those who spend the least:Ethiopia, India and Nepal, with 2, 7 and 12 cents respectively. Last interesting fact:the most expensive average bottle of wine is in the Marshall Islands (22€), Indonesia (21€) and Iceland (20€). Conversely, the cheapest is in Togo (€1.5) and Ethiopia (€1.7).
For more information, it's on the MoveHub site that it's happening! Ah, and we don't forget that it's always to be consumed in moderation...
