Norman students invent a frosted crisp

Crisps are undoubtedly the essential ingredient of aperitifs. But if it is very popular, it is no less ordinary. A handful of students had an idea to give a little uniqueness to this classic food:they invented Frigochips! This thin slice of potato has a particularity, since it is sprinkled… with dry ice. Result:when you bite into it, a cloud of smoke comes out of your mouth!

A refreshing crisp

It was the industrial refrigeration students of the National Agency for Adult Vocational Training (Afpa) in Alençon who had this idea and they will present it in Rennes from March 7 to 9, 2017, during the Imagine competition organized by the CFIA , the trade fair for food industry professionals. To try to publicize their invention, they even made a short video. "Frigochips, an innovation, a frosty and refreshing crisp, a crisp you dreamed of during your summer evenings", they explain in this sequence. If this creation is still only a prototype, its manufacturers are already thinking of marketing it... Enough to give pep to our aperitifs!
