The contemporary culinary center of Rennes, a cultural space created in 2013, is a place where the cuisine of tomorrow is invented. It has great ambitions with regard to food printing and strives to constantly reinvent itself in this area. In partnership with designers and engineers, the center is currently experimenting with a brand new device:the 3D printer! This innovative tool is all the more special because it has an unusual feature:it allows you to print food by giving it the shape you want. Clearly, we can put away our spatulas, because it will soon be possible to print pancakes in the shape of the Eiffel Tower. Wow!
The Rennes culinary center has acquired a strange tool:the Pancakeprinter (the pancake printer in VF). This machine, originally invented by the English, is capable of printing pancakes and other delicacies in 3 dimensions. The principle is simple:using software, the user draws the shape he wants to give to pancake batter (yes, we love this example) by highlighting particular details as he pleases. From then on, the printer places the parts of the dough on the heated plate and then an automated arm does the rest. In just 5 min we get an incredibly realistic final rendering! The 3D food printer is currently only at the exploration stage; it is therefore a question of making relatively simple and easily recognizable drawings. However, the Rennes culinary center is confident about the development of this system. Moreover, the space plans to become the first 3D food laboratory on the European continent.
A nice innovation!
