The Japanese and mayonnaise is a great love story. In the Land of the Rising Sun, a brand is particularly popular:Kewpie. This star mayonnaise is made with egg yolks, oil, spices and apple vinegar, which would give this mixture a milder taste than those offered by the competition, according to Mashable . So that the Japanese can live their passion for this delicious sauce (and rich, it must be admitted!), Kewpie has decided to open “mayonnaise cafés”. The first will be installed in Tokyo throughout the month of March and the second will open its doors in April, in Nagoya.
In these unusual establishments, customers can enjoy mayonnaise-based dishes:chicken marinated in mayo, tuna-mayonnaise sandwiches, mayo omelettes or even the essential deviled eggs. It will take 1,600 yen, or around €3.5 for the chicken with mayonnaise and 400 yen, or around €13.5 for… a dessert made with this sauce! Fabulous or sickening? You be the judge!
Decidedly, after the pea-mayo pizza, the sauce is on the rise…
