Easter:the best egg of 2018 is vegan!

Easter Sunday will be held on April 1, which gives families time to browse the shelves of supermarkets and chocolate shops in search of eggs that will delight children. If Kinder or Cadbury brand products are among the most popular, outsiders could well surprise this year, like a vegan Easter egg which was recently voted best egg of 2018. As every year, the site British The Goodhousekeeping specializing in "lifestyle" organized a taste test to elect the best piece of chocolate. And surprise:the big winner is none other than a vegan egg which therefore contains no dairy products. Designed by Booja-Booja, it is an egg that uses the recipe for gluten-free, lactose-free, soy protein-free hazelnut truffles produced by the brand which is very popular across the Channel. The 42 judges awarded it an excellent score of 89 out of 100, the best score recorded in all categories (milk chocolate, dark chocolate, eggs for children, etc.).

An Aldi egg at € 3.50 in the ranking

The Booja-Booja Easter egg might be great but it's not the most affordable:it sells for over £28 in the UK (okay it's hand painted, but still!) . For those who would like to taste it, the chocolate maker does not distribute its products in France, unfortunately, but it is possible to find its different boxes of truffles on Amazon for sums which vary between 15 and 35 € on average. Among the 142 eggs presented in the competition, we find an egg sold at Aldi at the price of 3.50 € or that of the prestigious chocolate maker Bettys offered at the price of 280 € (uh…). The Independent site reminds us that the egg has always been a symbol of life and death, which is why it is associated with the Christian holiday of Easter and the resurrection of Christ. The faithful of Mesopotamia, an ancient region in southwest Asia, decorated the first eggs in red to recall the blood of Christ. Come on, only 5 short weeks to go before making another raid on chocolate!
