It's great that the sun is shining again. Doesn't this immediately get you hungry for a summer recipe? Brooks' granita in Amsterdam is a great start to hopefully a great summer. Eat the granita, as one does in Sicily, along with a brioche for breakfast. Or really unpack, get oysters at home and make a delicious amuse-bouche. In a transparent prosecco glass for dessert is also not a bad option.
Granita supplies
350 g lime or lemon juice
150 g gin
150 g water
150 g sugar
Preparation time:4 hours and 10 minutes
- Put the sugar and water in a saucepan and turn the heat to medium/high. When the mixture is boiling well and the sugar is no longer visible, turn off the gas and pour the mixture into a bowl. Let it cool for 10 minutes and then put it in the fridge.
- Squeeze fresh lime or lemon juice. Make sure you use the citrus juice immediately, because it loses its flavor after 30 minutes.
- Then take the cooled sugar water and pour it into the citrus juice. Stir well and cover with plastic wrap.
- Put in the fridge and stir the mixture with a fork every hour. After 3 to 4 hours it is firm enough.
