The barbecue season is in full swing. Anyone who eats meat loves barbecue – add close friends and family and you will have unforgettable moments. Giving a successful barbecue is easy if you plan your menu in advance. It doesn't have to be luxurious. When it comes to hosting a barbecue, the things people remember most are the food and the fun! Here we have 6 tips for a successful barbecue.
Tip 1:Keep it simple
Remember the star of your menu and build around it. The star of any successful barbecue is the meat. The delicious smell of satay, chicken, burgers, sausages, chops and more coming off the grill promises the good things to come. Buy good meat, fish and vegetables. Don't forget the side dishes and healthy options.
Tip 2:Plan ahead
Make a list of what to do and when. Send invitations. Set a timeline and plan your menu. Say yes when family and friends offer to bring a side dish, dessert, or bottle of wine. That takes the pressure off you (and your wallet) and saves you time.
Tip 3:Prepare your barbecue and your food
Clean your barbecue inside and out. Soak your grates in warm water if necessary to help loosen food, then use a grill brush (never a sponge - you don't want those bits in your food later) and scrub them clean. Grease your grill grates well. When using charcoal, always provide more than you think you will need. Season or marinate your meats ahead of time so you're ready to grill them when your guests arrive. Place the barbecue where you can easily reach it.
Tip 4:Set the scene
Do you have enough seats? Can a shaded area be used as a primary or secondary seating area? Spread out tables so everyone is not in one area. Set up a table with drinks and ice. Always have extra ice on hand, even if that means storing some with your neighbors. Plan where the table of food will be (direct sunlight is best). Put down some garbage cans.
Tip 5:Have fun
Start with music and games. If you know there will be a lot of young children, perhaps a teenager or two will be around to work with the kids on crafts and/or play games so that adults have some time to relax.
Tip 6:Have fun
Now you are ready to host the best barbecue!
