Peel and core the apples.
Cut them into fairly large pieces.
Fill a previously buttered gratin dish halfway up. Spread a good layer of apricot jam on the surface of the apples.
Finish filling the dish with the rest of the apples.
Brush again with the jam.
Arrange large knobs of butter and put in a hot oven for about 1 hour.
